The school-to-work internship I completed at URI S.p.A., a company operating in the civil engineering sector, proved to be a valuable opportunity to engage directly with the professional world and put the knowledge I acquired at school into practice. From the very first day, I was welcomed by a supportive and attentive team, which guided me in learning the company’s main activities and clearly explained the objectives, working methods, and responsibilities involved.
Work Experience Activities
During my internship, I had the opportunity to carry out various tasks, including: filing documents (delivery notes and customer orders) in the appropriate folders; modifying the website’s interface and content using WordPress; improving the site’s SEO (Search Engine Optimization) through the practical application of various parameters, with the aim of enhancing its online search performance; opening and closing machinery rental and repair cases; and gaining the opportunity to explore and observe the process of payment reminders.
Additionally, together with two of the company’s sales representatives, I attended a training course led by the administrative manager on the payment methods available to companies and how to select the most appropriate one for each situation.
The meeting also provided valuable insight into the various types of clients that the sales representatives and the company regularly deal with, from freelancers to large corporations.
On Friday, November 12, I took part in a meeting lasting approximately one and a half hours, organized by the company’s Supervisory Body. During the meeting, the issue of corruption was thoroughly examined, with particular attention to how it may arise both in relationships between private individuals and in interactions between private individuals and companies. The discussion also highlighted the importance of compliance with internal regulations and ethical standards in order to prevent such practices with reference to D. Lgs. 231/2001. I found this meeting very interesting and was particularly impressed by the trainer’s outstanding communication skills.
The various activities I was involved in enabled me to develop a thorough understanding of and appreciation for several areas of the company, including:
-
- The main administrative and back-office activities I worked closely with.
- The company’s marketing, advertising and communication strategies, designed to enhance its visibility among private clients and businesses in Trentino–South Tyrol and beyond, particularly through SEO-indexed web searches.
- Alongside the Rental Department Manager, I observed and supported his activities throughout the entire rental process, from initiation to completion. I was also introduced to the different procedures involved in repairing equipment and machinery.
Conclusions
In conclusion, this internship period was extremely valuable in allowing me to immerse myself in a corporate environment and gain a deeper understanding of the various aspects that characterize it. I also had the opportunity to meet new people, exchange professional and personal perspectives with them, and observe and explore the different stages and areas of work within the company.
I am therefore satisfied with my internship at URI S.p.A., and I am confident that this experience has been highly beneficial for my professional development and my future career goals.
